Before I start, I just want to say that this will be incredibly random, but I need to say what´s on my mind.
You probably don´t know that but I got to know Alex through The Mortal Instruments. As I first read ‘City of bones’ I looked around the internet and I saw that basically every fan, and I really mean every one, pictured him as Jace. I´ve never heard of him before, but after a while I loved the idea of him playing Jace. When time passed, I became obsessed with him.
City of bones will be made into a movie and Alex got offered the role. You can´t even believe how happy I was. I think it never happened before that the fan favorit got offered the role.
But then the good news became less, Alex accepted other roles and all of sudden, Jamie Campbell Bower was cast as Jace. My little perfect world was kinda shattered. Alex Pettyfer does not only look exactly like I imagined Jace, he is Jace. So why did he rejected the role? Why? I´m desperatly waiting for a statement and I hope that it´s not true that he wanted more money. If it is true I will bitch slap him. Big time. Sorry.
To all the people thinking he couldn´t pull off the role as Jace anyway : Have you seen Wild Child? Have you seen that one scene, where he is completely heartbroken because of Poppy´s letter? Trust me, he could pull it off.
I´m hoping that JCB is good for that role. I still don´t think he looks right for the role, not at all. Although Cassie cried when she saw his audition, I´m not convinced because I know what happens. They fuck it up all the time [Twilight]. Right now I´m just really scared that they fuck up City of bones too.
I´ll probably still need some time to get over the fact that Alex will never play one of my favourite book characters. I will never hear him say those cocky lines. I will never see him fall in love with Clary. I will never see his vulnerablity. And it hurts, it really does. An image that I had for years got destroyed within a day.
I will always imagine Alex when I read the books. He will always be my Jace Wayland, forever&always.
Sorry for that long rant.
